One of the most interesting things in the Hall of Inscriptions (...) is the slab of marble which used to be hung outside a Roman circus, with the words on it, in Latin: "Circus Full. Great Shouting. Doors Closed." Few things bring the modernity of Romans, or the ancientry of ourselves, so vividly before one.
