"Halcyon days" is a popular idiom referring
to an idyllic, carefree time in the past remembered for happiness and peace.
The term originates from ancient Greek mythology, where the gods supposedly
calmed the seas for 14 days around the winter solstice so a mythic bird could
safely lay its eggs.
Today, people use it to invoke a sense of
nostalgia—often reminiscing about golden, trouble-free periods, such as the
"halcyon days of youth".
